This is a useful year 7 summary and revision resource covering the particle model of matter.

KS3 students can revise from the handy one-page summary, which includes all the key words they need and useful definitions.

There are three, differentiated revision tasks including diagrams to label, definitions to write and explanation questions to answer to check students' understanding. The resource also includes answers for self or peer marking.

Key words to learn

Particle — a very small object such as an atom or molecule.

Diffusion — where particles in liquids or gases spread out.

Evaporate — changing from liquid to gas at the surface of the liquid.

Condense — changing from gas to liquid.

Boil — changing from liquid to gas.

Melt — changing from solid to liquid.

Freeze — changing from a liquid to solid.

Sublime — changing from solid to gas or vice versa without becoming a liquid.

Gas pressure — force caused as particles collide with the walls of the container.
